Having had 5000 years to perfect their sound, their stage show was tight and well rehearsed. These magnificent mummies definitely put on the best show that I've seen so far this year.

Stars At Night

East L.A.'s Stars At Night brought their tour to Detroit's El Club as they opened the evening for Le Butcherettes. Fronted by Janelle (Originally from Toledo so it was a home coming of sorts), they played a powerful set and excited the crowd. Great job!

Swells

Austin duo Taylor Baker and Drew Walker, better known as Swells, brought their current tour to Detroit as they opened the night for Missio. Combining an Indie-pop sound and a dash of EMD with Taylor's strong vocals, their latest EP (simply entitled Swells) is an enjoyable listen.
The current single "Light's Out" recently dropped and is simply a perfect example of their combined talents.

Blackillac

Austin's Zeale and Phranchyze are touring together under the moniker Blackillac. Starting as support for Missio and Swells they brought their energy to the stage in Detroit and absolutely brought the house down.
Rappers, Hip Hop Artists and Free Stylists, these guys need to be seen by more people.

Matthew Brue and David Butler perform under the moniker Missio. Perfectly combining a synth-pop sound with catchy beats this kitschy sound can't be described as only alternative or elctronic but some sort of pseudo-hybrid Chillwave.

Terror Jr

Touring to support her third album (which just dropped on May 10th), Lydia Ainsworth entertained the Detroit crowd. This Canadian singer/song writer, now living on Los Angeles, produced and preformed virtually the entirety of the album on her own.
Listening to the album, you get a feel of modern social dynamics and historical themes that blend together in a perfect harmony.
It is literally, music to your ears.

TR/ST

Winnipeg's Robert Alfons, better known to the public as TR/ST, brought his tour to Detroit's El Club.
Supporting the release of "The Destroyer - Part One", this electro-pop musician brought his "soul piercing" vocals to the stage to the delight of his legion of fans.
This latest offering from TR/ST is reminiscent of his early demos and gives a feeling of completion to that part of his musical voyage.

The curtain draws back and the stage begins to light up. The crowd goes wild. Finneas comes out and goes right to the piano in an all white suit with purple socks and a black/white tie. Finneas the show starts off with "I lost a friend" (Blood Harmony album) and the crowd went absolutely crazy. Everyone started singing to the point where you couldn't even hear Finneas but he didn't seem to mind because the smile on his face was so big. During his second song, "Shelter", Finneas brought out a guitar and again the crowd went insane and sang every word with him and cheered on his awesome dance moves!

Matt and Kim brought their tour to Chicago as they celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of "GRAND", which is arguably one of their best albums and one of my personal favorites.
Taking the stage, the crowd went insane! Matt and Kim came out to the audio of AC/DC Fight part from the song TNT. Matt went to the edge and started throwing some t-shirts out into the crowd, winding them up even more. He headed to his keyboard, which was right next to Kim's drum set, and they began to play "Daylight".
During the second song Kim came out from behind her drum set and started dancing while drinking. From her energy, you would never know that Kim has been doing this tour with a torn ACL. She just kicks ass!

Having never heard of Left Behind before walking into this gig, I was taken back by how well Left Behind was able to encapsulate their audience, bringing the ultimate heavy experience.

Arrested Youth

Combining youthful energy and with an element of humor is never easy, but Arrested Youth found a way to do it. They entertained the crowd on all levels with is not common for an opening act and those that came early to the show were glad that they did.
This was one of the best openers that I�ve seen in a while and I�m excited to see what the future will hold and can�t wait to see what they would bring to a headlining set.

Always one of my favourites to see live, Irontom ended this leg of their tour in Detroit as they opened the night for the Dreamers.

Fronted by Harry Hayes's vocals and incredible stage performance and Zach Irons, who is basically a guitar master, IRONTOM puts on one of the best live shows you will ever see.

The lights dim and music starts to play through the P.A. system. The band is still in the back, but the fans don�t seem to mind. The crowd begins to sing and dance. Most bands have that song that can get a crowd on their feet and moving, but ISSUES had that set that had you dancing from beginning to end. You would think after the years of "going soft", as though some say, ISSUES wouldn't be able to put up an eccentric performance as they did 6 years ago, when their debut EP "Black Diamonds" dropped. Waterparks come from Texas and they brought the heat to Saint Andrews hall.
The room is pitch dark as the venue fills with Austen's voice screaming cherry red.
The crowd goes wild!
The band captures the crowd's energy and gives it all they've got on stage; jumping around and having a blast.
Most of the songs are pretty upbeat, but War Crimes is a heavier song. You can see and feel the band pouring their compassion and soul into every note and beat!

Having just discovered Convey recently I wasn't sure what to expect before attending the show. I have to say, I was more than impressed with what they had to offer from beginning to end.
The lead singer had a way of captivating the audience with his electric high vocals and eclectic personality. For the short time they had the stage they demanded our attention, and received it.
Their song "Nutrition" was definitely one of the highlights of their set. Watching the crowd participate in singing back to the band was almost therapeutic in ridding any stress felt by the audience. When you were there your mind just cleared of any negative thoughts.

Not much compares to playing in front of your home town. The support that you get from family and friends is incredible. And when they know your music and sing along, that's just extra. From the beginning of their set until the end, the crowd participated non-stop.
As an early opener for an all Detroit event, Gold Route killed it with their incredible live energy. The Detroit music scene is very much alive. Taking part in an all hometown event at Saint Andrew�s Hall, Kaleido absolutely killed it. Lead by Christina Chriss� powerful vocals and strong stage presence they put on an incredible show.
Reminiscent of such powerhouse�s of Lita Ford, Lee Aaron and Ann Wilson, Christina makes each song come alive.
I can�t wait until I see them as headliners doing a full set. They were entertaining on all levels and I�d recommend everyone see them.

New Politics ended their American tour off with a bang. Every song left the crowd screaming for more. The amount of energy this band has is mind blowing. They were jumping and dancing to nearly every song!
During �One of Us�, The Mowgli�s and Plain White T�s both came out and sat on stage and sang along!
As the set ended, David Boyd, the lead singer, stood on the drum set and did a back flip onto the stage! What an excellent way to end the tour!

Thirty five years ago I discovered the perfect hard rock album, Out of the Cellar. I listened to it so often that I drove my parents crazy and loved every minute of it. I played it so much that I literally wore out the cassette.
The following year they released an impossible follow-up. I say impossible because it was equal to the original. Invasion of Your Privacy together with Out of the Cellar were more than just a collection of rock songs, they were the anthems of my youth. I loved listening to every minute of them.
Still rocking the stage in 2019 RATT brought their tour to Detroit and I finally got the chance to see them live. It was a chance to relive my childhood. The set list was amazing...
